1. Coca-Cola
Coca-Cola Company is an American multinational beverage corporation that has a massive market worldwide. Coca-Cola is tops our list as the company has recorded the biggest marketing fail in recent times.
In the launch of Coca-Cola vending machines in New Zealand, the company used the slogan “KIA ORA, MATE” (message written on the vending machines). Coca-Cola combined Maori( indigenous language of New Zealand ) and English for their advertisement campaign in the country.
The message they wanted to give was, “Hello, Mate” but the company did not know, “Mate” in the Maori language means “Death”. The vending machines carried the message, “Hello Death”. Lack of awareness from the company. The idea of combining two languages totally backfired. Coca-Cola messed up big time.
Even locals used to comment, “Rare moment of Honesty from the company”. Consuming such sugary drinks is a step closer to death.
